The Human Experience

What sets us apart from all other animals, is the capacity and use of our brain. Modern science has even begun to disprove that on average we only use 10% of it.

There is still a lot of evidence to prove that our individual brain patterns (influenced by genetic predispositions and curated by our conditioning) without exploration and development can continue to have us operating in a 'sleep' state. Operating in modes that limit what we can experience, feel and do in our day -to- day lives. A self-hypnosis.

So... there is always value in understanding ourselves better, re-evaluating how those patterns are working for, and against us and experimenting with different modes of being. Remembering, the ultimate outcome, after all, is, death.

What do you want your experiences to be and mean between now and then?

Strengths Based Approach

Thanks to negative bias, our human nature to constantly improve and our desire to always belong, most of us have spent our lives producing outcomes that are continually critiqued, measured and compared.  For those of us old enough, we will recall this happening in school; usually with a red pen. Many of us will now be experiencing it at work, usually with some sort of Performance Scale, at least once every year.

The concern with this conditioning is the hyper fixation on not already having within us what is required to live out our days; work life, home life, school life. The risk is us achieving progress thinking we are not enough, as we are.

So...  we know effort is the baseline for growth, we are also aware that we all have blind spots worth shining light on. However, what is also true is that for all of us there is sincere value to the ways in which we show up in the world. We cannot be, everything, at once, to everyone, all the time.

What is already great about you? And how are you leveraging those things to thrive?

The Inevitable Change

It took humans 2.4 million years to master fire but only 28 years to go from the Internet to Wi-Fi. Change is constant, unavoidable and seems to be accelerating. Most of us get this on an intellectual level, however, it can feel new even after countless experiences with it. There is always a tendency to feel a little lost, confused and paralysed by change. And the change itself does not always have to be grand in nature to warrant this response.

So...  Although we may not always be able to foresee the changes or fully prepare for them, we can find comfort in that the psychological shifts we make throughout a change are in fact predictable. Furthermore, we can use these shifts to determine what reliable approaches we can take to move through them.

What unavoidable changes are coming your way and how might knowing more about what you are feeling, thinking and how you are behaving support you through this change?
